All Wheel Drive (AWD)

Most minivans on the market until recently (except for one) have been 2WD/FWD. Which is fine, except that leaves out a large portion of the population who live further north than Denver. Chrysler, however, is changing the game and shaking up the industry with the introduction of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica available in AWD.

Chrysler says that it is, “The most technically advanced AWD there is.”

AWD on the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is activated automatically with certain triggers. As you might expect, when wheel slippage occurs, but Chrysler has gone beyond that and have the system activate for other triggers such as the windshield wipers being activated or hard acceleration for a passing maneuver.

Plug-in Hybrid

plug in minivan charging

Pacifica Hybrid is currently the only plug-in hybrid minivan available, achieving 30+ miles on battery only with a total combined range (using battery power and the engine) of over 500 miles. Charging takes 2hrs on a 220V charger. Added for 2021 is Enhanced Hybrid Electric Pages and Smartphone Control 2.0 which allows you to set up to 3 different charging schedules such as for weekends, weekdays, or different people. Oh and the other added bonus of a hybrid, the government gets to pay you in the form of a tax credit.

A Back Seat Camera called the Fam Cam

Whether it’s a newborn baby or misbehaving children, this genius idea allows a view of the rear seats otherwise unachievable. Fam Cam also works at night/in the dark too.

Pillows

Yes. You read that right, it says pillows. For 2021, Chrysler is introducing a new ultra-luxurious trim level called the Pinnacle. And it comes with pillows. Leather and suede pillows that match the interior of the car nonetheless. Use them as a decoration, lumbar support, or maybe a pillow fight.

Wireless Apple CarPlay /Android Auto

2021 Chrysler Pacifica’s are the first vehicle’s from FCA to get the all-new UConnect 5 system which has a host of new features. One of those features is wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. No more cables in the way. It’s not plug-and-play anymore, it’s just get-in-and-go. I know what you’re thinking, well sure, that’s great it’s wireless but then it might just drain my battery. You’d be right except there’s also a wireless phone charger available.

Chess

With the UConnect Theatre Rear Seat Entertainment system, not only can the rear passengers watch movies, or plug into the HDMI, but there’s pre-loaded games for each screen in the middle row. Players can even play each other at games like chess. Other games include backgammon, concentration, are we there yet, licence plate game, and more. None of these games require WiFi.

Wi-Fi

Speaking of Wi-Fi though, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica of course comes with the ability to connect to Wi-Fi through a subscription service. After a free trial, it’s about $20/month for unlimited Wi-Fi, so if the kids don’t like the game or movies in the back, they can stream away or you can work from the van.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica’s are available to order now and are expected to arrive at dealerships in the next few weeks starting at $34,045 MSRP. Have something to say, or have a question? Let us know in the comments section below.
