With 13 trim levels to choose from on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it may be confusing choosing the right one for you and your needs.

We will discuss standard features on each one to make it easier. (In brackets next to the trim is a brief description of the major differences). 

To make it even more complex, remember that packages can be added to most of these trims. If there’s a particular feature you want to add to a trim level that doesn’t have it as standard consider adding it through at package. 

Standard powertrain : 3.6L Pentastar V6 with an 8-speed automatic transmission (except SRT and Trackhawk models). Estimated fuel economy as per EPA: 18 mpg city | 25 mpg highway | 21 mpg combined on the V6.

An available option on the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland and Summit is the 5.7L V8. 

Max towing capacity for the 3.6L V6 is up to 6,2000 lbs, and with the 5.7L V8 up to 7200 lbs (when properly equipped). 

What’s new for 2020

First, lets talk about what has been added for the new model year. 

New additions and features for the 2020 Grand Cherokee include;

 

  •  Laredo, Limited and Trailhawk models get the Premium Lighting Group (Bi-Xenon HID headlamps, daytime running lights DRL’s, LED fog lamps, and Auto High-beams) as an option. 
  • Jeep Active Safety Group ( Forward Collision Warning Plus, LaneSense, Land Departure Warning-Plus, Auto High-beam headlights and Advanced Brake Assist) is now available on the Laredo Trim. 
  • Dark Sienna/Black interior now available on the Overland trim.
  • Limited and Trailhawk models get a single pane sunroof as standard.
  • Light Frost/Brown interior now available on the Grand Cherokee Summit. 
  • New Low Gloss Granite Crystal wheel design on Grand Cherokee High Altitude. 
  • Trackhawk’s get a new available 20″ Titanium Aluminum wheel and a signature leather-wrapped interior package in Black/Ski Gray

Laredo

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4×4 Starting price : $34,540 MSRP.

Standard key features on the Laredo trim include;

  • 17″ wheels

If color is an important factor in choosing your Grand Cherokee, note that the Laredo trim is only available in 4 exterior colors; Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat, Bright-White Clear-Coat, Velvet Red Pearl-Coat and Billet Silver Metallic Clear-Coat. 

Pro Tech I Package is standard which includes; Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection, ParkSense Rear Park Assist, and ParkView Rear Back Up Camera. 

Laredo E (roof rack + packages)

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo E 4×4 starts at $35,895 MSRP. 

Based on the Laredo trim, the Laredo E adds Bright Roof Rails. 

No packages are offered on Laredo, however the Laredo E offers an upgrade to the 8.4″ UConnect 4C touchscren with NAV for an extra $1,395.

More colors option added to the Laredo E; Granite Crystal Metallic and Walnut Brown Metallic. 

Upland (heated seats)

Grand Cherokee Upland 4×4 models start at $38,685 MSRP. 

Upland trims go up to 20″ gloss black wheels with all-season tires, along with gloss black exterior finishes, black tow hooks, and Desert Sky accents on badging. 

On the inside, seats are premium black cloth with blue accent stitching and the driver seat is an 8-way power seat with adjustable  lumbar support. 

Also added is the standard  security and convenience group which includes;

Grand Cherokee Altitude 4×4 pricing starts at $40,635 MSRP.

Altitude model upgrades include a leather wrapped steering wheel and the bigger 8.4″ UConnect 4C touchscreen with NAV. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility provides seamless smartphone integration. 

 

North Edition (Special Edition Model for winter)

Grand Cherokee North Edition pricing starts at $38,790 MSRP.

Available only in 4×4, the North Edition is a Special Edition made specifically for winter. 

Based on a Laredo trim, the North Edition adds; 

  • Heated seats and heated steering wheel
  • All-weather floor mats
  • Remote start
  • Quadra-Trac II 4×4 System with Selec-Terrain Trction Management System
  • All-Terrain Tires

On the inside, Grand Cherokee North Editions get black suede seats with black stitching and the 8.4″ UConnect 4C touchscreen with NAV and SiriusXM Travel Link Weather. 

Limited

Grand Cherokee Limited 4×4 models start at $42,050 MSRP.

Quadra-Trac II 4×4 system. 

Grand Cherokee Limited models have 18″ wheels (polished aluminum), Select-Terrain Traction Management System (drive modes), and a sunroof.  Also added on the exterior is a bright exhaust tip and heated exterior chrome power mirrors. 

Interior features include Capri Leather trimmed seats. Driver and passenger heated seats and the 8.4″ UConnect 4C touchscreen with Nav. Apple CarPlay and Android compatible. 

 

Limited X (Limited with an appearance package)

Grand Cherokee Limited X 4×4 pricing starts at $47,145 MSRP.

Limited X models get body color front a rear fascias, wheel flares and sills giving the SUV a much more upmarket look. Granite crystal accents and 20″ wheels also add to the look.

Trailhawk (off-road)

Grand Cherokee Trailhawk (available only in 4×4) models have more features geared towards off-road capability. Pricing starts at $45,150 MSRP.

Quadra-Trac II 4×4 System with rear electronic limited slip differential and Quadra-Lift Air Suspension System (giving the SUV a whopping 10.8″ of ground clearance).

Standard features include; 18″ off-road aluminum wheels with All-Terrain tires, skid-plates, are the red tow hooks and a gloss black roof rack. 

Selec-Speed/Hill-ascent Control (included with Off-road Adventure Group II, 5.7-liter engine)

Cosmetic differences , a grey grille and body color fascias and a Trail Rated badge. 

On the inside, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk gets leather/suede seating with Trailhawk badging, Ruby red stitching and a 9 speaker Alpine premium audio system. 

Overland (luxury and convenience)

Grand Cherokee Overland 4×4 models start at $49,490 MSRP. 

Quadra-Lift Air suspension system standard.

Body color fascia’s with bright inserts and a body color grille, bright roof rails, Bi-Xenon HID headlamps and daytime running LED’s give the Overland model a more luxurious look. 

A Dual-pane panoramic sunroof comes standard as well as Auto High Beam control and rain-sensing wipers for ultimate convenience. 

Seating in the Overland is Perforated Nappa leather trimmed with smooth Nappa leather bolsters. 

Adding more luxury, the steering wheel is wood and leather-wrapped with controls for audio, speed, Electronic Vehicle Information Center, voice recognition and (if equipped) Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop.

High Altitude (safety technology)

Grand Cherokee High Altitude 4×4 models starts at $52,235 MSRP. 

Gaining the ProTech II package is the biggest difference in High Atitude models. A safety technology package, the ProTech II has; 

  • Forward Collision Warning Plus
  • Lane Sense Lane Departure Warning Plus
  • Automatic High-Beam Headlamps
  • Advanced Brake Assist

On the outside, the High Altitude gets 20″ Granite Crystal Low Gloss Wheels and badging, and grille bezels.

Seating as standard is black perforated leather and front seats are heated and ventilated. Driver and passenger seats have  8-way power with adjustable lumbar support.

Summit (loaded)

Grand Cherokee Summit 4×4 models start at $55,590 MSRP.

Quadra-Lift Air suspension system , Selec-Terrain traction management system and the Quarda-Trac II 4×4 system are all standard. 

Exterior features include 20″ fully polished aluminum wheels, and a body colored grille with chrome inserts for a refined luxury look

Safety technology is included with the ProTech II package as standard along with premium LED fog lights and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop. 

For convenience, headlamp washers, rain-sensing wipers, and auto high-beam headlamps and a deluxe cargo compartment are all standard. 

Seating is perforated Natura Plus leather trimmed with smooth Natura Plus leather bolsters (heated and ventilated in the front). 

Audio is a Harman Kardon 19-speaker, 825-watt high-performance sound system.

SRT (fast)

Grand Cherokee SRT (4×4 only) models start at $68,590 MSRP.

With a 6.4L HEMI SRT V8, the Grand Cherokee SRT puts out 475 horsepower and has 470 lb-ft of torque. 

A sports version of the Grand Cherokee, the SRT is already a legendary nameplate and it doesn’t change just because the Grand Cherokee is an SUV. 

Equipped with Bilstein Active Dampening Suspension, and Brembo High-Performance Brakes, the SRT means business when it comes it spirited driving. Not to mentions the Quadra-Trac Active On-Demand 4×4 system to keep traction in check. 

Dynamic drive modes that change the characteristics of the SUV include; Auto, Sport, Track, Snow and Tow. 

On the inside, a race-inspired flat-bottomed steering wheel has carbon fiber accents. Seats are leather with suede inserts and bolstered. Front seats are heated and ventilated. 

Trackhawk (the fastest)

Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (4×4 only) prices start at $87,095 MSRP. 

The most expensive Jeep from the factory ever made, the Trackhawk has an insane amount of power for an SUV. 

With a supercharged 6.2L V8, the Trackhawk puts out 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.

Top speed is 180mph and 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.
