Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne unexpectedly passes away July 25th 2018. NBC News reported that his death was due to having a stroke whilst recovering from a shoulder surgery. He was just 66 years old.

The man is a legend in the world of automotive. In 2005, after just one year of being CEO of Fiat Chrysler, Marchionne turned the company around. He took the company from losing millions of dollars back to making money. Since 2014, he also was involved in bringing Ferrari back to being on top on Formula 1 racing. Marchionne is also the man responsible for bringing Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati back to the United States. He was openly against electric or autonomous vehicles, however, the 5-year company plan showed a slow progression towards those areas.
Upon learning of his rapidly deteriorating health conditions, on Saturday, July 21st. The Board of Directors of FCA announced that Mike Manley would take over the position as CEO.
“Mr. Manley and his management team will proceed with the implementation of the 2018 – 2022 Business Plan as presented on June 1 of this year, a plan that will further assure FCA’s strong and independent future.”

According to Bloomberg, Mike Manley started his automotive career in Aberdeen, Scotland, UK. working for a Swan National Motors dealership in 1986. He was a management trainee. Manley joined Daimler Chrysler in the United Kingdom in 2000. In 2003 he transfers to the United States. By 2008, he was Executive Vice President of International Sales and Global Product Planning. Since 2009 he was head of Jeep and 2015 he was head of RAM Trucks. He holds a Master of Business Administration (Ashridge Management College in Ashridge, England). On top of that, he also has a BA in Science in Engineering (from Southbank University in London).
