Marchionne is also the man responsible for bringing Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati back to the United States. He was openly against electric or autonomous vehicles, however, the 5-year company plan showed a slow progression towards those areas.

Upon learning of his rapidly deteriorating health conditions, on Saturday, July 21st. The Board of Directors of FCA announced that Mike Manley would take over the position as CEO.

“Mr. Manley and his management team will proceed with the implementation of the 2018 – 2022 Business Plan as presented on June 1 of this year, a plan that will further assure FCA’s strong and independent future.”
