Adaptive Cruise Control is just one of the latest advances in safety technology in cars.

How does adaptive cruise control work.

ACC for short, is a form of cruise control that not only holds the speed of the vehicle but adjusts speed accordingly.

For example, you’re cruising at 70 mph on the highway and set Adaptive Cruise Control. There’s a car in front of you that’s doing 65 mph. Normally you might either press the brake or pull out and pass the car.

With ACC, the car will automatically slow down for you.

Vehicles equipped with Ford Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go have the ability to make the car come to a complete stop if the car in front is also stopped.

If traffic starts moving again in less than 3 seconds, the car will also start moving again, and follow the speed of the vehicle in front.

How to set up Adaptive Cruise Control on your Ford

  1. Press the ON/OFF button on the steering wheel
  2. Cruise to the speed you want to be at
  3. Press SET
  4. Take foot off the accelerator
  5. Press the car icon on the steering wheel to set the minimum desired gap. There are 4 different gap options from close to further away. The more lines on the screen the further the distance.
  6. A green light with a clock, car, and arrow will appear on the dash to indicate the adaptive cruise control is active.
  7. To cancel the adaptive cruise control, press the brake pedal or cancel on the steering wheel.

Which Ford vehicles have ACC?

Whilst Adaptive Cruise is not standard on all Ford vehicles, it is sometimes offered as part of an optional package from the factory. There are also various levels of ACC, which may or may not have stop and go features.
