Staff Spotlight: Shane Green

Shane Green is an automotive painter at the Fremont Motors Collision Center in Casper, Wyoming.

Q.How long have you worked in the automotive industry?

A. 7 years. I got involved in the trade because both my brothers were at WyoTech and I had in interest in cars since I was little.

Q. What is your favorite part of the job?

A. Custom work. Getting to work on different vehicles. One day I could be working on a classic Challenger and the next a newer truck or customer Jeep build.

Q. What would you consider yourself an expert at?

A. Airbrushing. I’d consider that my new favorite.

Q. Where did you grow up?

A. I grew up mostly in Wyoming, like over 20 years, but I was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. My family and dad moved to Wyoming.

Q. As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A. A musician, playing guitar.

Q. What do you do when you are not working?

A. Race motocross or help my sons race. I have 9yr old twin boys who do a lot of racing, so I’m involved with the hpma (High Plains Motocross Association) as the peewee track coordinator. I also have a 2yr old that is starting to ride.

Q. What are you passionate about?

A. Cars and motocross

Q. What is your favorite food?

A. Chinese.

Q. What is your favorite color?

A. Orange

Q. Favourite music?

A. I’d consider myself an all-rounder, but I like metal, like Black Label Society and rock. No death metal though. Once in a while, I’ll listen to country or classic rock.

Q. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

A. Racing cars and motocross. Some people might think that’s crazy, but to me it’s normal. The injuries are crazy, I’ve broken my foot three times now. The first time was a high-speed bike wreck, the second time I was doing a triple jump on the bike and the third time was also on the bike, doing a step-up and got in a collision. My toes were pointing a different way to the rest of my foot which was also pointing a different way from my leg. Ended up having to get pins and screws to put it all back together and run around on a scooter for a while.

Q. What was your first car?

A. A Datsun 280zx

Q. If money was no object, what car would you have?

A. A Nissan Skyline R34-GTR

Q. What current vehicles do you have?

A. A 1959 Ford Panel truck, 1972 Datsun 240z, 2004 Nissan 350z, a 1986 VW Bug and a Chevy 2500.
