Ram Trucks have a long history and heritage associated with being farmers, ranchers, and cowboy truck. The Laramie Longhorn edition of the truck resonates exactly that with the interior design, name, and even the exterior two-tone paint.
As a top-of-the-line luxury pickup, Ram has made a unique vehicle that is not only fit for purpose and connects emotionally with the Western way of life. The Ram Laramie Longhorn trim level is available on the Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500.
Exterior
As pictured above, the Laramie Longhorn edition is available with a MegaCab for extra storage room combined with more comfort. It’s no surprise that this trim level is named after a breed of cattle or that the colors have had names such as Saddle brown, Western brown, Delmonico red (Delmonico is a type of steak) or Hunter green.
Available in monotone colors or the two-tone combination with gold at the bottom. Perhaps the gold at the bottom is easier to keep clean on the dirt roads? Wheels are 20″ with gold inserts. In the heavy-duty line-up, a single rear wheel or dual rear wheel are options. Bi-Function Halogen headlamps really light up the road at night. Factory spray-in bed liner is standard. Factory-fitted fifth wheels are also an option.
Led bed-lights are very bright, some might even say obnoxious but I think of this as being most useful, except for maybe when hunting and trying to lie low. 4 tie-downs could possibly be 6 and that’s about the only part I’d change.
RAM Laramie Longhorn Interior
As soon as the door is opened, the smell of the luxury laser-etched Natura leather is something familiar to cowboys and ranchers. Attention to detail is not something that is lacking in this truck.
On the back of the driver and passenger (heated and cooled) seats, there are saddle bags. Not quite as much room as a real saddle bag but none the less has a purpose. Put your AQHA paperwork in here and the Coggins test results for the 4 horses you are about to load up in the trailer behind you. The second row has heated seats with three different heat options controlled by a button on the back of the center console.
The center console is deep enough for stashing; a spare wild rag, some gloves, vaccines, a few bottles of water, your lunch, the dog’s lunch. Well, you might not want to mix all of that, but you get the idea, it’s a good-sized center console box.The lid is wrapped in leather and has premium stitching with a leather badge that includes the Longhorn logo design.
An 8.4″ Color Touchscreen Display is easy to navigate whether going from satellite radio to FM or programming your next destination on the navigation. Which, by the way, found the ranch for these photos no problem at all. Don’t want to navigate the screen whilst driving, no problem. Buttons on the front and back are just a fingertip away. The buttons on the front left will let you scroll through a plethora of information from transmission temperature to oil life percentage.
Buttons on the front right of the steering wheel give access to cruise control. There is also an option of a ‘cargo camera’ with a view of the bed, enabling you to check your load or make it easier to hook up to a gooseneck. Standard back-up camera makes it easier to line up for a bumper pull.
Real wood accents are dabbled around the interior. The best one though is the steering wheel. Other than giving you a better grip, it is just simply…beautiful.

The RAM Laramie Longhorn is to RAM what Garcia is to Spurs. The 3500 that we used for this article drives like a typical one ton truck with a solid front axle. You won’t forget you’re driving a big truck. On the highway, it proved to be smoother over bumps at speed than other heavy duty trucks. It’s fit for purpose, does it in style and adds some luxury. I had to wipe the drool from my husband’s mouth, he loves this truck.
