All new Jeep Compass
One of the most exciting events for Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s at the 2017 Denver Auto Show, was the release of the new Jeep Compass. The Compass has looked a little dated compared to the rest of the lineup for a while now.
The new Compass looks take styling cues from the current Jeep Cherokee. In the lineup of Jeeps, the smallest one is the Jeep Renegade, the compass is a step up then there’s the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee (and the Wranglers). This new Compass replaces the existing compass and patriot. It will be built in 4 countries with the North American supply coming from Mexico.
FCA are describing the vehicle as “the most capable compact SUV” with “…leading 4×4 capabilities”. They also described it as having the best in class most fuel-efficient powertrain with over 16 combinations to choose from.
Jeep aim at a premium design for an affordable price. The Compass will be available in Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk trim levels. The ‘Sport’ trim level will be the base package entry-level model and Trailhawk is the top of the range with Trail Rated off-road capabilities.

Engine
This compact Jeep is powered by a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with three transmission options. A six-speed on the 4×2, a nine-speed as standard on the 4×4, and a manual. The 2.4-liter 6-speed manual transmission gets best in class 4×4 fuel economy at 31mpg (highway).
Other engines including diesel are available around the world, depending on markets. Engine stop-start (ESS) is standard on the 2.4-liter automatic to aid in fuel efficiency.
Trailhawk
The Trailhawk model has the ‘Jeep Active Drive Low’ system. The system offers a 20:1 crawl ratio and low range gears for off-road. It also has the five-mode Jeep Selec-Terrain system, Selec-speed control, and Hill-descent control. Drive modes on the Jeep Compass included in the Selec-Terrain system are Auto, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock.
