About Lander, Wy
Nestled against the foothills of the Wind River Mountains, Lander, Wyoming, is home to the first Fremont Motors location.
Lander’s striking scenery serves as a dramatic backdrop to the lively community, which boasts shops, restaurants, and recreational opportunities to suit every lifestyle.
Those who choose to make this town their home do so for many reasons—among them are its relaxed atmosphere and unique Western charm. Outside Magazine rated Lander one of the top ten small towns to live in, and it doesn’t take long to see why.
Residents of all ages enjoy a quality of life here that’s hard to find in busier, more populated communities. Outdoor adventure is right out your door in Lander. The Wind River Mountains offer endless escapes, including Wyoming’s highest mountain, 13,804-foot Gannett Peak. Also, there are more than 735,000 acres of continuous wilderness.
In town, public parks host softball and baseball games throughout the summer, and a community-built playground at the city park attracts families in all seasons. You’ll find tennis courts, festivals, an 18-hole golf course, and concerts to keep you entertained. Ice skating, snowmobiling, hockey, and cross-country skiing keep everyone busy when the snow flies.
Additionally, Lander has an indoor public swimming pool, an art center, a pioneer museum, and a growing number of recreational clubs. Find like-minded companions to go biking, cross-country skiing, or bowling. The Lander Regional Hospital also received an award as the top LifePoint hospital in the United States.
