Every year the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) give away a RAM truck to a college rodeo student. All of the competing students are entered into a draw to win the truck. NIRA Commissioner Roger Walters pulls out a name at random during the drawing in April. Witnesses are present at the drawing.
This year, the lucky winner is Canadian Keenan Reinhardt. Keenan is currently an accounting major on a scholarship at Montana State University and is here at the College National Finals Rodeo to compete in the Saddle Bronc.
Roger Walters says that every year when he makes the phone call to the winner of the truck, they usually think it is a joke. He called Keenan Reinhart’s coach first for this reason.
Keenan was in class when the voicemail from Roger was left. Keenan said when he got the message he wasn’t really sure what it was about. Once he sat down for a minute and was able to put two and two together was able to it out. He was shocked.
This year’s truck is a brand new RAM 2500 4×4 in white, which Keenan says he will use for, “everything”. Keenan will pick up (no pun intended) his new truck on June 17th, at the College National Finals in Casper, WY.
Fremont Motors Sales Manager Bobby Atnip will hand over the keys during a ceremony at the Rodeo. The CNFR runs from June 9th until the 17th when the final competition takes place.
