Car Cleaning Hacks You Might Not Believe

How To Clean Your Vehicle Without Robbing A Bank

Here are some car cleaning hacks that won’t cost much.

Here are some car cleaning hacks you might not believe.

  • Make your own cleaning slime (like the kind kids play with) mix 1/2 cup liquid starch, 4oz Elmer’s glue and 1/4 cup water. Use the slime to clean up dust and dirt.
  • Use Q-tips to clean smaller or difficult areas such as around the bottom of cup holders, heater vents etc.
  • If you’re a parent of a small child, it’s more than likely you’ll have diapers handy. Use one to quickly absorb a spill, just don’t put it on the kid afterward.
  • Crumple and wet some newspapers to remove parking tickets. Then add some vinegar to get a sparkling glimmer to the windows
  • Nail Polish can be used to temporarily fill in a windshield chip until you get to a repair shop.
  • A make-up brush or sponge brushes are really useful for dusting heater vents.
  • For fabric interior stains, use a cloth soaked in club soda and pat the stain.
  • Coke and steel wool can be used to remove rust.
  • Steel wool is also great for cleaning windows and rims, be sure to keep it very wet, so it doesn’t scratch.
  • Clay Bars are amazing for lifting residue from paintwork.
  • Hair conditioner with lanolin is apparently good for a polish.
  • Rub down your wiper blade rubbers with rubbing alcohol to stop smearing.
  • Regretting that bumper sticker? Spray WD-40 on the sticker, allow to soak and pull it off. Another method is to use a hairdryer and rubbing alcohol. Heat the sticker until the glue melts, then peel it off.
  • Toothpaste can be used to clean fogged up and grimy headlights. Rub the toothpaste over the plastic, leave for a few minutes then wipe off to be amazed!
  • Another great car cleaning hack with your toothbrush is scrubbing in those difficult to get to areas, like seat corners and vents.
  • Wet a dryer sheet to rub off bugs.
  • A cowboy’s favorite, use olive oil to treat leather. Not too much though or you might find yourself slipping right out of your seat.
  • To remove pet hair, spray a little water, then sweep with a squeegee.
  • Use a pumice stone to remove hair from fabric.
  • Vinegar and shampoo or laundry detergent can also be used on fabric interior to clean. Vinegar and baking soda will clean up your carpet mats pretty good, although you may need a wet/dry vacuum to suck up the mess.
  • To remove foul smells, place a piece of charcoal under the seat.
  • How about a few drops of essential oils on a wooden clothespin to make an air freshener. Simply stick on your heater vent, turn it on and mmmm freshness. Careful it doesn’t drip, this may stain the plastics though.
  • Use a magic eraser to clean sticky gooey messes from vinyl and leather. An awesome car cleaning hack if you have kids!
  • Ice cubes will remove gum. Rub the ice cube over the gum until it becomes hard, then remove.
