The all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 will introduce four levels of towing features to provide customers more confidence, better visibility, easier hitching and improved connectivity between the truck and trailer.

It seems like only just a few years ago that integrated trailer brake controllers were added, but now there’s even more new technology for towing.

Trailering capability is a huge part of a truck and to some truck owners, it’s the most important aspect.

Truck manufacturers are working hard not only on increasing the towing capability of the pickups, but also the ease of towing.

2019 Chevy Silverado’s have an available in-vehicle trailing app, MyChevy phone app, a camera system, and a new trailering label.

There are 3 towing packages available for the Silverado. They are the; Trailer Package, Advanced Trailering Package, and Max Trailering Package.

Trailer package

  • Hitch
  • Trailering hitch platform
  • 2″ receiver hitch
  • 4-pin and 7-pin connectors
  • 7-wire electrical harness and a 7-pin sealed connector for connecting lights
  • Hitch Guidance

The My Chevy Trailering App is standard with all 2019 Silverado’s. Features include; how-to videos, pre-departure checklist and a glossary of towing terms.

The MyChevrolet phone app for smartphones also allows the driver to conduct a trailer light test, which uses an automatic exterior light sequence to confirm that the trailer is properly connected.

Advanced Trailering Package

  • Advanced Trailering System (in-vehicle app),
  • Trailer Tire Pressure and Temperature Warning System,
  • Hitch Guidance with Hitch View.

Up to five custom trailer profiles can be stored within the trailering app. Fuel economy, mileage, and transmission temperature are all monitored within the app.

The Advanced Trailering System infotainment app allows customers to create and store up to five profiles, including “guests,” for different trailer types.

The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) not only checks the pickup trucks tire pressures, but also the trailer. Not only does it check the pressure, but tire temperature too.

Part of the Advanced Trailering System, Hitch Guidance with Hitch View adds dynamic backing guidelines to the Rear Vision Camera.

Zoom function on the backup camera makes it easier to align the hitch to the trailer. The parking brake is automatically set meaning the truck won’t move or become misaligned to the hitch.
